ACADEMICS
At St. Mary Magdalen, school life may begin in Pre-K3, Pre-K4, or our Kindergarten program, where developmental milestones become the foundation for a child’s physical, social-emotional, and cognitive growth.
SMM School received the Archdiocesan School of Distinction Award in 2019 and 2022. This award acknowledges that 95% of the students in grades 3 to 8 showed at least one year or more of growth on their standardized tests.
Our curriculum aligns with the Archdiocese of Philadelphia
and Pennsylvania State Standards. In addition, SMM is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges, and we just received reaccredidation in 2022. Our school establishes a firm academic basis through instruction, continual review, and application of skill sets. We provide technology to support learning wherein creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking are incorporated within all units of study.
In Science, the Lab Learner® program opens new doors through hands-on exploration with labs beginning in Kindergarten and progressing with students through 8th grade. Students receive differentiated, grade-appropriate, individual Lexile level reading materials with ongoing assessment through the Achieve 3000® Program. In addition, SMM provides students with a valuable introduction to foreign languages and a well-defined fine arts program with a creative and balanced approach to their curriculum. Our students are well prepared for their high school experience, and many are awarded scholarships to their chosen high schools.
